Meet Our Therapists
Dr. Kristen HM Veres is our Asheville, NC area therapist. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2009 from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA after completing her B.S. in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2005.
Kristen’s treatment strategies are Manual Therapy focused, heart-centered, and fun. She comes from a diverse practice background, starting her career in Sports Medicine, then adventuring five years as a travel physical therapist across the United States, working with all patient populations from the newborn to the elderly; in outpatient, home health, and acute hospital settings. In 2013 Kristen was Certified as a McKenzie Method Clinician, specializing in the Mechanical Diagnosis & Treatment of orthopedic spine and extremity pathologies. Her numerous Manual Therapy specialties include: Functional Manual Therapy ®, training with the Institute of Physical Art since 2010; Visceral Manipulation, training with the Barral Institute; CranioSacral Therapy and Neural Meningeal Manipulation, training with the Upledger Institute; and Reiki/Energy Healing. Kristen completed her RYT200 Yoga Instructor Certification in 2016 at the Asheville Yoga Center, and frequently integrates yogic strategies and postures into her treatment programs. Kristen is also a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the APTA, and very much enjoys mentoring physical therapy students whether onsite in clinical or online. Kristen’s favorite aspect of her career is helping people to heal the root cause of their dis-ease to be able to return to their ideal level of pain-free function; especially those individuals who have yet to find relief with standard treatments. In her own words, “My role as a therapist is to facilitate the patient’s intrinsic healing abilities and create a safe space for that healing to take place.”
Kristen relocated to Asheville in the summer of 2015 to be able to work one-on-one with patients for a full hour in a holistic health setting. Here, she met the love of her life, Jesse, and they were recently married last August! Kristen is a lifetime competitive athlete and an adventurous outdoors woman – she continues to play soccer year round, run, cycle, swim, snowboard, hike, weight train, and enjoys a daily meditation and yoga practice. Her interests also include travel and adventuring into different cultures, live music, spirituality studies, astrology, creating art and poetry, jewelry making, and of course, exploring her new home here in Asheville, NC.
Dr. Ernest Brown is a Washington, DC native, family physician, and founder of the house call medical provider, Doctors To You. While in medical school, a young Dr. Brown predicted a life in the emergency room; however, after mentorship by one of the country’s leading house call doctors, things changed. This experience working in homes rather than in clinics steered his focus from being a run-of-the-mill hospital employee, to fulfilling his purpose as a true caregiver by staying connected to the community that made him.
In 2015, Doctors To You was born with the mission to rebuilding the doctor-patient relationship, giving patients the care they deserve. Today, it’s a burgeoning movement in the DC area, providing both residents and visitors seamless access to quality care without having to go out and find it—the doctor comes to you! “I greatly enjoy providing both traditional and charitable house calls. I have a distinctive and patient-centric vision of how house calls should be practiced and have spent my career bringing that vision to life.”
Old-fashion? Maybe. But with Doctors To You, Dr. Brown is spearheading the return of the house call, and has achieved local and national recognition for his outstanding service by outlet such as: The Today Show, NPR, and The Washington Post.
